Hasta La Vista Schumi

With the 2006 F-1 season coming to an end, it surely will be remembered for Schumi's last season rather than Alonso's second straight championship title, which is rather unfortunate. Theres no question about Schumi being one of the best drivers of all time( Some say he is the best), although his way of winning titles, by ruthless driving, sometimes putting not only his life but also others' lives at peril was something which I always hated. His style is sometimes called as killer instinct but i think he crossed the line way too many times and got away with it. His overtaking maneuvers were surely breathtaking but his philosophy of "Win at all costs" didnt really appeal to me. Who can forget his duels with Villenueve on the last race where in he nudged Jaques out of the championship title race. Theres no secret about his so called enmity with almost all the present and past F-1 drivers especially Alonso. Thanks to the advancements in car safety technology, drivers like Schumi do not end up taking lives of other drivers in their quest to win F-1 Titles. With him retiring, there will be many who shall be missing, but not me and the other F-1 drivers. Hasta La Vista Schumi.

A tale of 2 mirzas

Yesterday i saw this song called "Mujhe tumse muhabbat hai" in which Dia Mirza is dancing with minimal clothes on, with water getting sprayed all over. Now take the case of another Mirza, Sania who was criticised by one section of her community for wearing revealing clothes. Infact they had a fatwa issued against poor Sania. Now,there has to be someone who also has seen Dia's gyrations in the song. How come there was no objection to that song? Infact Sania is up there on court making her country proud and these people have a problem with her dress?Whereas Dia is dancing/bathing in front of so many people wearing absolutely nothing and they dont have a problem with that. I think all these people who object simply want attention in the media. I hope some sanity prevails atleast in the media and they do not highlight such trivial issues.I am also trying to understand this funda of fatwa.probably in the next one.

My reservation against reservations

yes, after a long hiatus, i am back. The recent announcement by the govt. to introduce reservations in iits and iims is shocking. What is more shocking is that now they are planning to introduce reservations in private companies too. If even jobs come under reservation, it would mean a step back in time. I have never discriminated against anyone for being from a specific caste or tribe. Neither can i identify by his/her name nor am i interested. But now, a different kind of feeling comes after hearing this huge amounts of reservations in all the fields. Now you begin to wonder if he/she has got admission on his/her merit or otherwise which is nothing but again going into the past where our forefathers discriminated against so called lower castes. We( General category so as to say) are still paying for the sins our ancestors committed. And we still dont know how long we would have to keep paying. I am not against reservations. Its already quite sufficient. And reservations should now not be given based on anyones name but on the financial state of a person.
